What is a Chemical Peel for the skin?

Chemical peels are a solution specially made and applied to the skin to get rid of dead skin cells in a layer and encourage the growth of new cells. As it peels off the top layer of skin reveals new, even-toned, smooth, and younger-looking skin. If you want to minimise wrinkles, dull skin, acne, acne scarring, melasma and scarring then you would love chemical peels.

How many types of chemical peels are there?

There are 3 types of chemical peels; superficial, medium, and deep. Each varies recovery time as well as different results. Depending on your skin needs and preferred results we can decide which one you need at your consultation with our doctor.

Is Chemical peel good for the skin?

Our skin is unique to each one of us. If you like to achieve great skin but have discolouration, wrinkles, and textured skin then you would want to consider a chemical peel. Patients with sensitive skin can go for superficial peels and with repeated treatment achieve any desired effects whereas patients with normal skin mango for medium peels may achieve great-looking skin in just one or two treatments. Deep peel may completely rejuvenate your skin in just one treatment and achieve skin looks at least 10 years younger. Recovery times may vary for each patient.

How long will chemical peel last?

Superficial peel results can last about a month or two, medium peel results two to six months whereas deep peel results are expected to last many many years.

What age is best for a chemical peel?

Patients can start chemical peeling as early as their 20s. You may start getting superficial chemical peels even as a part of your normal monthly facial to maintain healthy and fresh skin. It all depends on your skin’s needs.

Are there any people who should avoid chemical peels?

Chemical peels are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding as enough research has not been completed to say that it has no effect. Also, people who have current inflamed acne, cuts to the skin, sunburn, or taking Accutane should avoid chemical peels until the skin is healed. If you are using retinoids we will ask you to stop using the product for 4 -5 days before your treatment.

Can I wear makeup after a chemical peel?

It is advised not to wear make up 48to 72 hours right after your treatment but you can start wearing makeup after that initial time period.

How long does it take for the old skin to peel and a new one
to come out?

Depending on the patient your skin can start to peel after 3-4 days, also depending on the type of treatment you get skin can peel within seven to fourteen days. In any case, after 2 weeks you will start enjoying new, younger, and fresh skin.

Can a chemical peel apply anywhere on the body?

A chemical peel can be applied anywhere on the body. Your chest, back, hands, thighs, legs, and feet!
